Job Description and Duties

Briefly, the job involves conducting criminal investigations of felony violations of State and Federal law relating to insurance fraud and white-collar crime. This includes working independently or as part of a team, generating clear and concise correspondence and investigative reports, and assisting in the prosecution of cases involving criminal enterprises and profiteering.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.

Working Conditions

Must qualify and carry a firearm; some travel is required within and/or outside the state of California via private or public transportation. (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.) Travel may include overnight stay.

Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Recent experience in State service as a peace officer investigating auto, workers’ compensation, property and casualty insurance fraud;
  • Ability to generate clear and concise correspondence and investigative reports;
  • Ability to liaison with other law enforcement and prosecuting agencies in the region;
  • Graduate of Regular Basic Course (RBC) academy or Specialized Investigators’ Basic Course (SIBC) academy desired;
  • Preferred degree in criminal justice, criminology, police science, sociology, communications, psychology and forensic sciences, political science, finance, accounting, business administration, and public administration;
  • Fluency in non-English language is preferred but not required. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to indicate their fluency via Question #5 of the STD.
