Investigator and Loss Prevent Coordinator
About the Role
This position conducts research to identify and prepare information and records required for public records, ADOA Risk Management, the Attorney General's Office, and outside counsel for defense or representation in legal matters. The role assists and coordinates with legal counsel and agency personnel in the defense of the agency, including identification and preparation of internal subject matter experts. It involves collecting data and addressing issues arising from high liability exposure claims and torts, reviewing and redacting records for public requests, pending claims, litigation matters, subpoenas, and discovery requests pursuant to state and federal laws. The position ensures evidence and record preservation orders are issued, sustained, and lifted.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research to identify and prepare information and records required by the public, ADOA Risk Management, the Attorney General's Office, and outside counsel for defense or representation in legal matters.
- Review, redact, and analyze record responses to public requests and those related to pending claims, litigation matters, subpoenas, and discovery requests pursuant to state and federal laws and agency policy.
- Assist and coordinate with legal counsel and agency personnel in public requests and defense of the agency, including identification and preparation of internal subject matter experts.
- Ensure evidence preservation orders are issued, sustained, and lifted.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Paralegal Certification or equivalent legal training preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job. Employees must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.
- Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.
- An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
