Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities

An Investigative Financial Analyst, “IFA”, under the direction of the Chief of Investigations, will provide forensic auditing, accounting, or other support for investigations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Inputting researched and analyzed data into various professional products like statistical analysis summaries, forensic accounting reports, graphs, charts, and PowerPoint presentations for law enforcement use.
  • Reviewing and analyzing various law enforcement, financial, and procurement databases, and conducting open-source searches to obtain necessary business records to support investigations and prosecutions.
  • Helping analyze and build financial profiles to identify criminal offenses, trends, and patterns to understand fraud and money laundering schemes.
  • Compiling and analyzing data material, including tax and financial records, invoices, complaint data, digital media, contract, and grant-related information to identify fraud, related criminal offenses, and associated parties.
  • Providing expertise in financial crimes investigations by contributing to affidavits, subpoenas, investigation recommendations, and testifying in court.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, with experience in a law enforcement setting, financial analysis, accounting, and/or auditing.
  • A Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of criminal intelligence analysis and strong technological skills are required.
  • Proficiency in using tools like i2 Analyst’s Notebook, Bank Scan, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other software necessary for forensic financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership, judgment, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, along with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with other agencies and OAG employees, are required.
