Investigative Auditor IV (Specialist) - Charitable Trusts Section

About the role

The Investigative Auditor IV (Specialist) conducts the most complex office and field audits of charitable organizations and fundraising professionals under the supervision of the Attorney General. Audits aim to uncover misuse or diversion of charitable assets and other fiscal abuses by charitable trustees, and to enforce compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough audits of charitable organizations and fundraisers to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Identify and investigate instances of misuse or diversion of charitable assets.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams to enforce compliance and prevent future violations.
• Write clear and persuasive reports and correspondence to communicate audit results and recommendations.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of laws and regulations related to charitable corporations, trusts, and solicitation.
• Strong understanding of general accounting and auditing principles and procedures applicable to charities.
• Excellent investigative and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in conducting complex financial and operational audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in auditing or related fields, preferably in a governmental or non-profit setting.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing charitable organizations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay

$6,955.00 - $9,142.00 per month

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
