About the role
The Maintenance Inventory Specialist manages spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies, ensuring accurate inventory records, optimal stock levels, and proper organization. They handle receiving, stocking, and issuing materials for repairs, often using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/EPAC) to track inventory.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular cycle counts and audits to ensure accuracy, using inventory systems or maintenance software.
- Receive, inspect, and stock parts, issue parts to maintenance work orders.
- Purchasing Support: Monitor stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions for spare parts, ensuring timely availability for repairs.
- Drives company vehicle to pick up incoming stock or to pick up and deliver parts to units in other buildings or locations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the spare parts room and storage areas.
- Update inventory systems with part numbers, locations, and quantities.
- Adhere to safety guidelines, including OSHA standards and proper handling of materials.
- Utilize CMMS or ERP software to track inventory, update stock levels, and issue parts to work orders.
- Aid technicians by kitting parts for projects, researching technical manuals, and identifying required items.
- Order parts, manage vendor relationships, verify shipments, and handle returns of defective/warranty items.
- Organizes and maintains files, a variety of lists, control records, logs, forms, data sheets, requisitions, purchase orders and other related documents.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years previous warehouse or inventory experience.
- Understanding of industrial maintenance parts, tools, and equipment.
- Experience with CMMS (e.g., RTA, Hexagon) and MS Office (Excel).
- Proficiency in inventory management software, spreadsheets, and database applications.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Proven recordkeeping experience.
- Possession of a valid drivers’ license.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and in warehouse setting.
- Excellent math ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to work in a stockroom or warehouse position.
Physical Demands
- 90% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy inventory items.
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, and lift heavy materials (often 60+ lbs.).
- Capacity to operate in a warehouse environment, which may include loud noises and varied temperatures.
- 5% of work is accomplished outside.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations and noise.
