Inventory Planner/Buyer
About the role
As an Inventory Planner/Buyer at W.W. Williams, you are responsible for planning and replenishment of parts and/or new product inventory for centrally managed inventory product lines and products. You will coordinate with Company parts departments to source parts, negotiate purchase terms, and manage vendor relationships to obtain high levels of parts availability at the optimum level of investment in inventory.
Responsibilities
- Places inventory stock orders for centrally managed product lines and products.
- Executes promotional buys working with Marketing.
- Assists in developing and continuously reviews inventory stocking level strategies and implements strategy improvements.
- Supports Parts Managers and Parts Departments in achieving high levels off-the-shelf parts availability at the optimum level of inventory investment.
- Analyzes and repositions surplus inventory.
- Manages vendor return programs and optimizes use of return allowances.
- Works closely and communicates effectively with vendors, Parts Managers and Sales Representatives, to evaluate, coordinate, negotiate and execute inventory purchases obtaining the most desirable terms from vendors and the best value for the Company.
- Provides analysis and reporting including ad-hoc reporting on metrics related to inventory and Parts Department Operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
