About the role
We seek an Inventory & General Accountant to provide accurate and timely cost accounting, financial, and statistical data for our manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for Plant Controllers, Cost Accountants, or Manufacturing Accountants looking to deepen inventory and cost expertise while also strengthening general accounting knowledge. You'll support accurate GAAP compliant financials and operational decisions aligned with our strategic goals for OXCO and related entities.
Responsibilities

- Perform all work in a safe manner following all safety standards and use required safety equipment.
- Collect, organize and analyze operational cost data.
- Review and validate cost standards resulting in setting standard costs for manufactured and purchased goods.
- Work closely with Industrial Engineer on accurate standard costing for proper GAAP inventory valuation.
- Examine inventory to verify journal and ledger entries for accuracy which may include rolling standards as needed and participation in physical inventory counts and reconciliation.
- Maintain ongoing visibility of obsolete and aged inventory and recommend corrective actions and/or accounting adjustments.
- Analyze and communicate monthly variances including but not limited to labor, yields, material usage, overhead, purchase price variances and absorption impact on the financial results.
- Perform monthly and year-end accounting tasks including, but not limited to, bank reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, reserve analysis, freight accruals and other general accounting tasks.
- Prepare and analyze internal financial reports to review and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial results including but not limited to sales, cost of goods sold, margins and inventory adjustments.
- Maintain knowledge of current cost and financial accounting concepts.
- Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Complete account reconciliations both monthly and annually as required in preparation for the annual financial audit. Respond to audit inquiries and provide requested information timely.
- Partner with operations managers to analyze cost savings initiatives.
- Analyze business operation trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to compare operating programs, review financial requests or explore alternative financing methods.
- Assist with preparation of budgets and/or forecasts.
- Prepare and submit external reports including but not limited to property tax returns.
- Assist others in the Accounting/Finance Department to balance workload and act as backup when needed, including accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.
- Perform adhoc analysis and process improvement as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 3+ years financial experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior cost/inventory accounting experience a plus.
