Inventory Control Specialist

About the role

The Inventory Control Specialist oversees inventory accuracy, transaction integrity, and inventory control processes within the warehouse and manufacturing operation. This role coordinates cycle count programs, investigates inventory discrepancies, and ensures inventory records accurately reflect physical stock. The Inventory Control Specialist collaborates with production, purchasing, logistics, and finance teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and support operational objectives.

This position reports to the Logistics Manager.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily inventory control activities and inventory personnel.
• Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP/WMS system.
• Monitor inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, issues, returns, and adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and company policies.
• Review inventory levels and identify excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory.
• Develop and manage cycle count schedules.
• Conduct and oversee physical inventories and annual inventory audits.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes.
• Implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
• Maintain inventory accuracy targets and reporting metrics.
• Train others on cycle count process and inventory control.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes and warehouse efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and material flow.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Work closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Shipping, Receiving, and Finance teams.
• Support inventory reconciliation and month-end closing activities.
• Coordinate disposition of nonconforming, obsolete, or excess materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; or minimum five years related experience; or combination of education and related experience.
