About the role

The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for maintaining inventory precision and accuracy within manufacturing and distribution sites. This role provides daily direction to the Inventory team to ensure accuracy and compliance, completes systematic transactions, conducts cycle counts, optimizes space/stocking locations, oversees finished goods inventory levels, monitors product flow, ensures proper labeling, and monitors safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operations by assigning tasks, managing staff schedules and timecards, overseeing performance, and adhering to deadlines
  • Oversees inventory accuracy for a site or department ensuring system integrity, inventory control, labeling accuracy, research tasks, interpretation of unit of measurement, management of return goods, and repackaging processes
  • Ensures the daily inventory plan is effectively implemented according to the directives provided by management
  • Addresses habits, practices, or behaviors that contradict policies or instructions in a proactive manner
  • Safeguards the safety of the work environment by stopping the line if any unsafe condition is identified
  • Supports inventory movement initiatives among operational departments to improve inventory accuracy
  • Periodically trains site staff on correct inventory control techniques and practices
  • Researches and reconciles the physical count with inventory records. In case of disparities, investigates discrepancies and, if needed, adjusts the inventory to rectify errors within the system of record (JDE/JDA/etc.)
  • Responds to any inventory discrepancies by taking necessary corrective actions to ensure products are available to fulfill customers’ orders
  • Participates in daily staff SQDIP, Gemba and/or operational meetings
  • Ensures execution of cycle counts, audits, and approvals to meet financial frequency and accuracy objectives
  • Fosters a motivating team environment through transparent and consistent communication
  • Guides the team towards achieving quality objectives and collaborates with them to devise action plans for maintaining quality standards in case of defects
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement by monitoring work cells to eliminate operational inefficiencies
  • Inspects items returned by customers for various reasons such as errors in item selection, overstock, product damage, or delivery problems
  • Removes items damaged during facility operations
  • Adjusts inventory of items which cannot be salvaged
  • Communicates and proposes packaging modifications to enhance protection during transit
  • Emphasizes and promotes effective 5S principles to facilitate a decrease in material damage and write off deductions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 2 – 4 years of inventory control, receiving and bin management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment
  • Strong computer skills and experience utilizing inventory control systems
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities based on management and customer requirements
  • Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with teammates, understand and provide directions, and make entries on reports/records

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
