Inventory Control Associate

Founded in 1991, Testa Produce, Inc. is the successor entity to the original Dominick Testa and Sons. Testa Produce's roots date back to 1912, with founder Dominick Testa selling stalks of celery door-to-door out of a basket. The creation of the Chicago Terminal Produce Market provided a central selling location for years. As the restaurant industry evolved, so did Testa Produce. In 2011, Testa expanded and moved into its new 91,300 square foot facility to accommodate an ever-growing list of restaurant, hotel, and food service customers.

Responsibilities

• Organize and perform daily physical inventory counts.
• Assist in monitoring product quality and advise buyers & AM warehouse managers of deviations from standards.
• Slot new product and advise of locations.
• Work with buyers on issues regarding product quantity, quality, and usage.
• Provide inventory reports to buyers, AM warehouse managers, and the inventory control manager.
• Operate a cherry picker to access higher locations for counting.
• Manage and maintain the inventory system.
• Conduct frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
• Assist with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.

Requirements

• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 1+ years of recent and successful experience performing the above functions in a significant produce distribution or processing center, or a significant food manufacturing and distribution operation.
• Proficient skills in Inventory Management Software, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and common email systems.

Physical Demands

• Work in cold and wet cooler conditions as low as zero degrees, for extended periods of time.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand or sit for long periods of time.

Schedule

• 5 days per week (including Saturday).
• 7:00am - 3:30pm.

$20/hour
