About the role
The post-doctoral scholar will envision research strategies that could ultimately benefit children with medical or mental health disorders or diseases. In consultation with the mentor whose lab they will join and other mentors with clinical or biotechnology expertise, the scholar will establish a plan for engineering or creating candidate therapeutics or improving existing therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Establish research strategies to benefit children with medical or mental health disorders or diseases
- Collaborate with mentors to develop therapeutic targets and validate them
- Create and conduct experiments to test the efficacy and safety of therapeutic candidates
- Engage in biotech-oriented team science, making "Go/No-Go" decisions based on research outcomes
- Prepare manuscripts to report research findings and seek national competitiveness in career goals
- Participate in coursework focused on drug discovery and development, regulatory affairs, and intellectual property management
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program
- Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area
- Up to 20% of time will be devoted to coursework
