About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.50 per hour. Employment starts May 3, 2026, through October 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Support the State Invasive Species Program through public outreach to non-motorized water recreation groups.
  • Trailer a mobile self-serve cleaning system throughout the Arkansas Valley and southeast Colorado to educate outfitters, anglers, hunters, and non-motorized watercraft users about aquatic invasive species and proper equipment cleaning.
  • Provide surveys, attend user group events and expositions, and educate recreational outfitters.
  • When outreach is not needed, support the Program Manager and Invasive Species Specialists by performing tasks including: watercraft inspection and decontamination, quality control assessment, inventory management, reviewing and editing technical reports, distribution of supplies to field locations, and data entry.
  • May require overnight travel and distance driving. Early morning, evening, and weekend work required.

Requirements

  • Good driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays.
  • Ability to drive long hours and remain alert.
  • Must be willing to be flexible with the weekday and weekend work schedule, as field work may be dictated by weather.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word applications required – Word, Excel, Access.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Prior to employment

  • Must be willing to undergo background screening.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or higher education.
