About the role

The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors.
The mission of Colorado Parks and Wildlife is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources.

Responsibilities

• Support the State Invasive Species Program through public outreach to non-motorized water recreation groups on the Colorado River at designated boat launches.
• Education and outreach to non-motorized watercraft users about aquatic invasive species and how to properly clean, drain, and dry their equipment.
• Attending user group events and expositions, and educating recreational outfitters.
• Perform leadership duties to accomplish statewide objectives for education and outreach.

• Host regular check-ins with staff to address ongoing needs.
• Early morning, evening & weekend work required.

Requirements

• Excellent driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays.
• Ability to drive long distances and remain alert.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, early morning and late evenings.
• Must be willing to be flexible with daily/weekly scheduling as field work may be dictated by weather.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to approach and engage public.
• Reliable and timely.
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment.
• Ability to trailer cleaning units on highways and steep mountain roads.
• Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.
• Experience with Microsoft and Google applications.

Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle. To be compliant with the new Fleet Vehicle Policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who have an assigned State fleet vehicle. Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position. Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
