About the role

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.

Responsibilities

• Provides special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation to students in various settings including resource, inclusion, self-contained, and pull-out classes.
• Collaborates with general education staff to develop and implement student programs.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Maintains current CPR certification if applicable.
• Completes TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
• Maintains a current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations.
• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
• Meets all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Qualifications

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.

• Strong communication skills.
