INTERVIEWER/TRANSLATOR **REPOST** - #26-003465-0001

Full-time position located in Somerset County.

Pay

$40,975.00 – $53,013.00 per year, with potential growth to $64,627.00 per year.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person and telephonic interviews with individuals who have limited English proficiency, ensuring accurate interpretation and translation of public-health information.
• Translate written materials (e.g., fact sheets, consent forms, outreach flyers) from English into target languages and vice versa.
• Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and local health-department policies.
• Assist case investigators and contact tracers by bridging language and cultural gaps during disease-outbreak responses.
• Participate in training sessions and drills to remain current on public-health protocols and terminology.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and at least one of the following languages: Spanish, French, Amharic, Nepali, or another language commonly spoken in Somerset County.
• High-school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in interpretation, translation, public health, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum one year of professional experience in interpretation, translation, or a public-health setting.
• Ability to pass a background check and maintain up-to-date immunizations required for healthcare settings.
