Interventionist Teacher - IDEA Pharr College Prep (26-27)

At IDEA Public Schools, the Interventionist Teacher works with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and/or Math, aiming to close that gap by 2 years within one school year. This role is vital in preparing all students for IDEA’s AP for All initiative through systematic, research-based intervention.

What We Offer

Compensation starts at $57,500 for teachers with 0 years of experience. Additional stipends ranging from $500 to $4,000 are available based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership. Performance-based compensation is also offered. After-school tutoring or Saturday school assignments provide extra hourly pay.

Selected candidates must submit official electronic service records from previous educational employers to verify creditable service for compensation and experience validation.

Qualifications

• High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA, demonstrated through teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required).
• Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
• State certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction using on-model programming for small groups of 3rd–8th grade students academically at risk in reading and/or math, including general education, 504, RTI, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
• Deliver district-approved, research-based intervention to small groups of Kinder–2nd grade students (campus-dependent) academically at risk in reading and/or math.
• Provide intervention for 9th–12th grade students (campus-dependent) at risk of not graduating, including general education, 504, RTI, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
• Coordinate with general education teachers to align support for students requiring intervention.
• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula, submitting weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Use formal and informal assessments to track student progress, adjust lesson plans, and update gradebooks weekly.
• Communicate student progress with families on a weekly basis.
• Utilize technology effectively for communication, instruction, and work management.
• Implement a consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives while fostering students’ character and community.
• Contribute to a positive school culture that promotes enthusiasm and productivity for all students.
• Build cooperative, trusting relationships with students and families based on respect for their communities.
• Host tutoring sessions as needed and participate in weekly check-ins, grade-level meetings, and school-wide functions.
• Engage in summer and year-long professional development.
• Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week, with additional responsibilities such as after-school tutoring or Saturday school as needed.
