Interventionist Teacher - IDEA Achieve College Prep (26-27)

At IDEA Public Schools, the Interventionist Teacher works with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and/or Math, aiming to close that gap by 2 years within one school year. This role is key to ensuring all students are prepared for IDEA’s AP for All initiative, using systematic, research-based interventions.

What We Offer

Compensation starts at $63,500 for teachers with 0 years of experience. Additional stipends ranging from $500 to $4,000 are available based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership. Performance-based compensation is also offered. After-school tutoring or Saturday school assignments provide extra hourly pay.

Service records from previous educational employers are required to validate professional experience and determine creditable years of service for compensation.

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child, based on tenure and caregiver designation.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition for qualifying degree programs, up to $5,250 annually, subject to manager discretion and budget availability.

Qualifications

  • High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA, demonstrated through teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution (required).
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
  • State certification preferred but not required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
  • Proficiency in curriculum and instruction.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust to diverse situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) to small groups of 3rd–8th grade students academically at risk in reading and/or math, including general education, 504, RTI, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Deliver district-approved, research-based intervention to small groups of K–2nd grade students (campus-dependent) academically at risk in reading and/or math.
  • Provide intervention to 9th–12th grade students (campus-dependent) at risk of not graduating, including general education, 504, RTI, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Coordinate with general education teachers to align support for students requiring intervention.
  • Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula, submitting weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
  • Use formal and informal assessments to track student progress, adjust lesson plans, and update gradebooks weekly.
  • Communicate student progress with families on a weekly basis.
  • Utilize technology effectively for instruction, communication, and task management.
  • Implement a consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives.
  • Foster a positive school culture and productive learning environment.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed and participate in manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and school-wide functions.
  • Engage in summer and year-long professional development.
  • Work a minimum of 40+ hours per week, including after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
