About the role

The Interventionist position at BERTIE COUNTY SCHOOLS is responsible for planning, overseeing, and managing educational programs that cater to the diverse needs of students. This role also involves supervising Teacher Assistants (if applicable), adhering to board policies, and reporting incidents as required.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperates in the development of annual objectives for the school and plans an instructional program that incorporates these objectives.
  • Incorporates learner objectives compatible with the subject, grade level, established curriculum, and student needs.
  • Affirms the effectiveness of the instructional program through assessment.
  • Maintains an effective program by staying updated with subject areas and child growth and development.
  • Ensures that instruction, materials, and procedures are appropriate for the subject being taught and for the needs of students.
  • Encourages students, parents, and others to become actively involved in daily instructional activities.
  • Assesses individual student abilities to devise techniques that will accommodate student differences in learning rates, styles, and ability levels.
  • Makes use of community resources, student talent, volunteers, and other school personnel to enhance the instructional program.
  • Maintains a suitable instructional environment through professional classroom management techniques.
  • Makes use of professional classroom management techniques to maintain a suitable instructional environment.
  • Monitors individual student achievement on a continuous basis, employs a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs, and provides remediation as required.
  • Serves as a role model for appropriate personal conduct and fosters a climate of respect at the school.
  • Reports acts of violence to the principal.
  • Reports students who are suspended or expelled from school as required.
  • Performs in a manner that meets the standards and elements on the new teacher evaluation instrument.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
  • North Carolina teaching license.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities including but not limited to: monitoring student safety and well-being, motivating students, maintaining a clean and orderly environment, performing general clerical duties, maintaining order and discipline, operating common office machines, maintaining basic files and records, understanding and following oral and written instructions, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, using a wide variety of technology in the classroom, creating and following rigorous lesson plans, assessing individual student abilities, devising techniques to accommodate student differences, monitoring individual student achievement, employing a variety of teaching methods, providing remediation, supervising, using professional classroom management techniques, using community resources, showing respect for the dignity and worth of all students, valuing cultural differences, maintaining communication with parents, accepting responsibility for non-instructional duties, complying with laws, rules, and regulations, promoting school safety, reporting acts of violence, reporting students suspended or expelled, and reflecting on practice.
