About the role

The In School Suspension Supervisor monitors students who are unable to be in the traditional classroom environment due to excessive classroom distributions or misbehaviors. He/She will provide students with a positive classroom environment focusing on academic and social instruction.

Responsibilities

• Creates and organizes an environment that promotes learning.
• Establish high expectations for student conduct and academic performance.
• Work collaboratively with building administration, teachers, parents/guardians and students.
• Utilizes effective classroom management techniques.
• Keeps appropriate records and files of completed assignments.
• Establish an effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom.
• Substitute for classroom teachers as needed or determined by the building principal.

Qualifications

• Experience working with at-risk students is preferred.
• Ability to maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of educational strategies and techniques.
