About the Role

The Interventional Technologist works as a member of the Interventional Radiology team of medical professionals. Under the direct supervision of the Interventional Physician, the technologist assists physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures by performing scrub or circulator functions. The Interventional Technologist specializes in obtaining high-quality diagnostic imaging and assists in the performance of invasive procedures that aid in the evaluation and treatment of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. The role includes operating and maintaining angiographic and supporting procedural equipment and supplies, following department protocols, and using independent judgment for appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures by performing scrub or circulator functions.
Obtain high-quality diagnostic imaging.
Operate and maintain angiographic and supporting procedural equipment and supplies.
Determine the best method for providing requested tests based on individual case specifics.
Apply independent judgment in imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Analytical ability to determine the best method for providing requested tests.

Qualifications

Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV) (or registry eligible). If registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 24 months of hire.
Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS).
