Interventional Radiology Tech Full Time Days Sign-on Bonus Eligible

About the role

This position is full-time, with 4 – 10 hour shifts plus call requiring a 30-minute response time. A $15K sign-on bonus is available; internal employees and rehired employees within one year are not eligible.

Responsibilities

• Perform vascular interventional, neuro interventional, and spine interventional imaging procedures
• Evaluate requests for radiographic service, assess the patient, and determine appropriate procedure protocol and method of application
• Corroborate the patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensure documentation is available for the licensed practitioner
• Prepare patients for procedures by providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety
• Operate imaging equipment and accessories; select appropriate programs for desired protocols
• Position patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort
• Employ imaging systems, accessory devices, and patient positioning techniques to generate interventional imaging images
• Care for the patient throughout the procedure according to department and hospital standards of nursing care, age-specific sensitivities, and patient-first guidelines
• Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from imaging devices
• Evaluate resultant images against industry standards and take corrective action if needed
• Provide patient education in written and/or verbal form before, during, and after the procedure to reduce anxiety and enhance tolerance
• Perform imaging procedures in accordance with safe radiation safety practices as determined by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
• Document imaging procedures manually and/or electronically to ensure correct charging and patient and film file tracking
• Monitor stock of supplies in imaging rooms to ensure regular availability by timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and maintenance of a clean and orderly environment
• Report equipment failure, irregularities, or disrepair to supervisory and/or quality control personnel promptly
• Provide imaging services of optimum quality, productivity, and customer service
• Collect data to support measurement and tracking components of quality management
• Participate in formal and informal process improvement and problem solving to enhance service quality
• Identify areas for potential improvement and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure continuity of care through effective interactions with other departments (e.g., surgery, emergency department, registration, patient escort, nursing services)

Requirements

• Current Illinois license through IEMA ARRT registry in radiography
• CPR certification (BLS) through the American Heart Association
• Graduate of an accredited radiography program

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
• 1–3 years of Interventional Imaging experience
