Interventional Radiology Technologist Extern

Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Cape Fear Academy Job Family Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary This position provides a 4–6 month transition program designed to provide hands-on clinical experience and advanced training in a fast-paced procedural environment. Externs work under the guidance of experienced IR/Cath Lab professionals while completing a structured orientation and competency-based training program. Successful completion may lead to placement into a permanent IR Technologist or Cath Lab Technologist role. Externs who do not complete the program may be able to transition into an X-Ray Technologist role if available. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of the job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time. Participate in a structured externship program within the IR/Cath Lab settingAssist with interventional and diagnostic imaging proceduresPrepare patients, equipment and procedure rooms in accordance with safety standardsMaintain sterile technique and support physicians during proceduresRotate through assigned clinical areas to gain real-time experienceComplete required competencies and training assessmentsCollaborate with radiology and Cath Lab teams to ensure high-quality patient careAdhere to departmental policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standardsOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education And Formal Training Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology program requiredCurrent ARRT certification or registry eligible requiredMust attempt registry certification within 1 year and gain certification within 2 years of the hire dateBLS certification (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) requiredParticipation in a modified X-Ray Tech orientation within the first 30 days of hire requiredCompletion of all required competencies during externship required Work Experience 1 year of clinical or externship experience in radiology with strong interest in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab specialty preferredInternal CFV candidates must be employed with CFV for a minimum of 6 months and have no active disciplinary actions Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required None Physical Requirements Ability to be available for occasional weekend clinical experiences (Saturday/Sunday)Ability to comply with attendance expectations (call-outs must be reported appropriately) Required Licenses And Certifications Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
