The listed pay range reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ based on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality nursing care to meet the health, physical, emotional, and educational needs of patients undergoing diagnostic or interventional radiologic procedures.
  • Plans and provides unique, individualized comfort measures using intuitive and innovative, scientifically-based approaches.
  • Reviews medical history and records to address potential problems before the patient arrives for an interventional procedure.
  • Assesses patient condition by interviewing, performing physical examinations, and continuously monitoring.
  • Discusses any problems with the physician before, during, and after the procedure.
  • Performs all functions of the procedure competently, assists the physician during all aspects, records the procedure, operates non-radiological equipment, maintains a sterile environment, and completes related clerical functions.
  • Assists patients and families in understanding care alternatives and facilitates communication among the healthcare team.
  • Provides information and interpretation of the patient's condition, offering coping mechanisms and educating patients and families in preparation for admission, procedure, and discharge.
  • Assesses the patient's information needs and tailors communication to enable comprehension.
  • Formulates and documents a discharge plan maximizing the patient's ability to continue meaningful life activities.
  • Follows up on internal resources to determine intervention outcomes and mobilizes resources in complex cases to maximize patient control and participation in recovery.
  • Collaborates with case managers to discuss care alternatives in preparation for family-centered conferences.
  • Provides accurate health information to patients and families, enabling active participation in healthcare decisions.
  • Develops individualized teaching plans, incorporating cultural diversity as needed, and confers with the treatment team regarding special needs upon discharge.
  • Performs and documents initial history and assessment, anticipating deterioration and planning interventions as needed.
  • Documents accurately and evaluates treatment effectiveness, anticipating problems in complex or unusual clinical situations.
  • Integrates assessment and diagnostic information with intuition to foresee potential age-specific healthcare needs.
  • Ensures handoff communication includes a report on likely situations and unresolved problems.
  • Mobilizes resources in emergencies, displaying rapid problem-solving and treatment initiation.
  • Administers medications accurately and safely, documenting according to nursing standards.
  • Performs, teaches, and demonstrates technical skills specific to the assigned unit.
  • Identifies and resolves issues related to patient education for medication management.
  • Participates in unit-based chart reviews and performance improvement activities.
  • Assists with the development and revision of the unit-based orientation plan.
  • Modifies patient care regimens using discretionary judgment and facilitates appropriate responses from the healthcare team.
  • Evaluates care quality, identifies problems, and documents improvements.
  • Advocates for patients, using clear rationale to guide treatment responses.
  • Participates in evaluating unit standards of care and identifying potential problems.
  • Organizes unit activities to mobilize resources in a changing environment, displaying competency in charge and preceptor roles.
  • Follows policies for attendance, punctuality, and continuing education.
  • Adapts staffing patterns based on unit needs and attends advanced workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and adapts to changing department demands.
  • Participates in unit and hospital committees.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Two years of critical care experience or training preferred.
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Registered Nurse licensure in New Jersey (NJ).
  • ACLS certification required (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) for assignments in Critical Care, Intermediate/Telemetry, Emergency Rooms, Pediatrics/Pediatric Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Services (excluding Perioperative), Interventional Procedures, or Observation.
  • NRP certification required (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) for assignments in Maternity Services.
  • PALS certification required (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) for assignments in Emergency Rooms, Infant Follow-Up, Surgical Services (PACU & Same Day Surgery only), or Pediatrics/Pediatric ED.
