Intervention Specialist - Mild to Moderate - Juvenile Detention Center (JDC)/SOAR 2026-2027

Application window: August 17, 2026 – August 27, 2026. Starting salary: $48,967.10 for a 190-day school year. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position represented by the AEA bargaining unit.

• Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist Licensure, Mild/Moderate (required).

• Flexibility in scheduling and working with students and staff.
• Willingness to participate in staff and curriculum development.

• Evidence of successful teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Helps students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their personal development.
• Plans a program of study tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities, with written evidence of preparation available upon request.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Employs instructional methods and materials aligned with stated objectives.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order fairly.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers, and evaluates their performance in cooperation with department heads.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Accepts responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including specific instructional objectives and unique services to meet student needs.
• Makes modifications and accommodations for students with disabilities in the classroom.
• Monitors student progress in accordance with the IEP.
• Reports to and carries out additional responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
