About the role

The Intervention Specialist at Liberty Christian Academy supports students with mild to moderate disabilities in grades K–12. This role plays a crucial part in creating an inclusive educational environment that values and equips every student to succeed academically, socially, and spiritually.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals and Ohio Learning Standards
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Deliver evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions
  • Support students in both inclusive and small-group settings
  • Encourage student growth academically, socially, and spiritually
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Ensure compliance with all timelines, documentation, and legal requirements
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and progress monitoring
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records
  • Partner with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching
  • Communicate regularly and compassionately with families
  • Collaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, counseling, etc.)
  • Participate in team meetings, intervention planning, and school initiatives
  • Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed
  • Foster a safe, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment
  • Use formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress
  • Analyze data to inform instruction and intervention decisions
  • Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) processes

Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License (K–12 Mild to Moderate)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Ohio Operating Standards
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
