About the role
The Intervention Specialist at Liberty Christian Academy supports students with mild to moderate disabilities in grades K–12. This role plays a crucial part in creating an inclusive educational environment that values and equips every student to succeed academically, socially, and spiritually.
Responsibilities
- Provide specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals and Ohio Learning Standards
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Deliver evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions
- Support students in both inclusive and small-group settings
- Encourage student growth academically, socially, and spiritually
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ensure compliance with all timelines, documentation, and legal requirements
- Facilitate IEP meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and progress monitoring
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records
- Partner with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching
- Communicate regularly and compassionately with families
- Collaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, counseling, etc.)
- Participate in team meetings, intervention planning, and school initiatives
- Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
- Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed
- Foster a safe, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment
- Use formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress
- Analyze data to inform instruction and intervention decisions
- Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) processes
Qualifications
- Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License (K–12 Mild to Moderate)
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Ohio Operating Standards
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
