ACCEL Schools is seeking highly qualified Intervention Specialists at Montgomery Preparatory Academy in Dayton, Ohio. The school is dedicated to providing a superior education for all students, with a focus on student learning and social-emotional development.

About the Opportunity

The Intervention Specialist supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students, with a focus on those with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Key responsibilities include:

• Working cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students, and assisting in classroom intervention strategies.
• Conducting diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conducting functional behavior assessments and writing and implementing behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitating IEP meetings and writing IEP goals and objectives.
• Utilizing research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrating culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Serving as an advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicating regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child.
• Participating in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

About You

To be considered for this role, you should currently hold a state license. Experience working in a full-room inclusion type model or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model is preferred. You should also have:

• A high level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• The ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI).
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting is preferred.
