Intervention Paraprofessional, 4.5 hours/day (Stillwater Middle School)

About the Role

Provide scheduled individual and small-group reading intervention to students in grades 6–8 using an evidence-based, structured literacy curriculum at Stillwater Middle School.

Responsibilities

• Implement lessons and instructional routines consistently under the direction of licensed staff.
• Support students in developing foundational reading skills, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence as readers.
• Build positive relationships that encourage students to persist through challenging learning.
• Collect and accurately record student performance and progress-monitoring data.
• Communicate student progress, engagement, and areas of concern to supervising teachers and intervention staff.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, literacy specialists, and administrators to align intervention with student needs and building-wide literacy goals.
• Maintain an organized, focused, and welcoming learning environment.
• Participate in relevant training, team meetings, and professional learning.
• Assist with other academic support and student supervision responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with middle school students.
• Calm, consistent presence with strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills.
• Understanding of adolescent development and restorative practices.
• Firm yet empathetic approach to supporting student behavior.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining clear expectations.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff.

Requirements

To work as a Paraprofessional, you must meet the state requirement of being Highly Qualified prior to your start date. You must have ONE of the following:

• A Bachelor's Degree, or
• An Associate's Degree, or
• 60+ hours of post-secondary education, or
• A passing score on the ParaPro Exam.

Schedule

4.4 hours per day, Monday - Friday (student contact days). Start Date: 8/12/25

Pay

Starting at $21.00/hour, based on experience.
