Interpreter (Spanish) / Registration - Float Pool
About the role
The Interpreter/Registration position provides services at HealthNet Health Centers for non-English speaking patients and family members, ensuring compliance with ADA and equal access for people with all levels of abilities.
Responsibilities
- Translate English for Spanish patients and their families.
- Serve as a liaison between non-English speaking communities and HealthNet.
- Respond to concerns regarding language interpreting and communication for patients and their families.
- Assist in collecting patient information.
- Provide support such as financial screening, answering telephones, making appointments, assisting in the cashier area, and the medical records area.
- Provide cultural education to other employees.
- If certified as a Medical Assistant, perform additional patient care duties as expected.
- Perform other tasks as requested by physicians or clinic managers.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 1st shift. Float to multiple Indianapolis locations:

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge and experience translating Spanish in a medical setting.
- Must be or be willing to be certified in translation.
- Reliable transportation required; may be subject to travel to assist other Health Centers.

Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, and stoop for prolonged periods; repeated bending, stooping, and squatting required.
- Able to lift, push, and/or pull light to moderately heavy weight up to 20-30 pounds.
- Able to perform duties during varied and/or prolonged work hours.
- Must be able to read, write, hear, and communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
