Interpreter - Part-time (Hybrid)

About the role

As an Interpreter I, you will play a vital role in supporting communication between Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients, their families, and our care teams. You will ensure clear, compassionate, and accurate communication throughout the patient’s care journey while contributing to departmental projects, programs, and broader language access initiatives.

• Interpret and transmit complex medical information accurately and understandably between medical providers and patients, including consent forms, diagnoses, medical procedures, discharge plans, and other patient-related information.
• Independently assess understanding of conveyed information and request clarification or repetition if the message from either party is unclear.
• Recognize and adjust communications for cultural nuances, providing advice or education to hospital staff as needed.
• Resolve most daily issues without direct supervision; escalate complex situations to Language Services leadership.
• Manage your schedule and use available tools to mitigate downtime due to cancelled assignments, informing the department of any changes promptly.
• Foster collaborative work relationships across the organization to ensure seamless coordination of care and services.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of equivalent experience.
• Bilingual (English and Mandarin).

Schedule

• Part-time: 18.75 hours per week, hybrid.
• Monday to Friday, with hours between 9 AM and 5 PM (must be flexible).
• 2 days a week onsite at 633 3rd Ave.

Pay

Pay Range: $56,600.00 - $87,600.00 (FLSA Status: Exempt).
