About the role

The Internships & Career Services Coordinator supports the Voiland College Internships & Career Services (VCICS) vision, mission, and values as well as the overarching Voiland College Student Success (VCSS) mission and goals. The coordinator will be part of a larger VCSS team that strives to support Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture (VCEA) students to be successful.

As part of a larger team, VCICS works alongside tutoring services, academic advising, the VCEA club hub, recruiting, peer mentoring programs, maker space opportunities, and entrepreneurship programs. The coordinator is responsible for building strong, intentional relationships and advising students in career development areas including self-discovery, understanding the world of work, experiential learning, advanced education, and job and internship searching.

The role involves designing engaging workshops and programs, coordinating networking opportunities, connecting students to work-based learning experiences, and developing relationships with employers, faculty, and staff. The coordinator advises students on resume writing, interviewing skills, and oversees career-services-related student club activities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, advising them on career development, self-discovery, and the world of work.
  • Design and deliver engaging workshops and programs focused on career readiness.
  • Coordinate networking opportunities and connect students to work-based learning experiences.
  • Develop intentional relationships with employers, faculty, and staff members.
  • Advise students on resume writing, interviewing skills, and job/internship search strategies.
  • Oversee career-services-related activities within student clubs.
  • Perform database management, records maintenance, and office organization tasks.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Previous experience in career services, academic advising, student recruiting, or other student service areas at the college/university level.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Experience conducting workshops and presentations.
  • Experience in database management and records maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, take initiative, and solve problems.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings or weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to WSU campus locations in Washington.

Pay

Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $4,600. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Schedule

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent, 12-month position. This position is overtime-eligible.
