About the role

Shive-Hattery is a full-service architecture and engineering firm with a legacy of collaboration, innovation, and putting people first. As a Structural Engineering Intern in the Industrial Food and Pharmaceutical Market, you’ll play a key role in supporting the firm and shaping projects that make a difference—from concept through completion. You’ll collaborate with talented teammates, contribute your expertise, and help us deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions for those we serve.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands‑on experience and be treated as a full‑time staff member with access to learning and growth opportunities.
• Work on actual client projects where your contributions directly impact Shive‑Hattery and the community.
• Be paired with a mid‑to‑senior level mentor for informal one‑on‑one guidance on career goals and aspirations.
• Work on a variety of project types including building expansions and rehabilitations, and a range of process support structures.
• Develop insights into the profession, collaborative teamwork, and serving client needs.
• Position is primarily office or hybrid, with possible travel to project sites, other office locations, or client meetings.

Requirements

• Must have current and ongoing authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. person, or eligible immigration status).
• A full clean driver’s license is required.
• Role involves sitting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods.
• May require lifting light to medium weight objects up to 50 lbs., wearing PPE, and navigating active construction sites.
