Internship Summary

Helping Texans is the H‑EB Way. Spend 10 weeks with us exploring the retail industry as an H‑EB Store Operations Intern. Program dates run from May 24 – July 30, with days and hours varying based on a retail schedule that includes night and weekend shifts. You will be assigned to one of our stores and learn the ins and outs of being a People Leader and running a store directly from Operations leaders who were once in your shoes. You’ll be prepared to learn about financials, inventory, people planning, HR, taking care of our customers, and much more. We hope to see you this summer as an H‑EB Partner and together be part of something as big as Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a store environment under the guidance of Operations leaders.
  • Learn and assist with financials, inventory management, and people planning.
  • Participate in HR activities and customer service initiatives.
  • Observe and contribute to supply chain, logistics, and retail operations.
  • Collaborate with a team of interns and senior partners across divisions.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn and an inquisitive nature.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization and time‑management abilities.
  • Professionalism and a collaborative team mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, shift focus between tasks, and attend to details.
  • Drive to get things done.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.

Program Expectations

  • Reliable transportation or willingness to use public transportation.
  • Potential placement at a work location up to 45 miles from home.
  • Availability for the entire 10‑week period.
  • Commitment to full‑time, in‑person work for the duration of the internship, with a varying schedule as required.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Ability to function in a fast‑paced, retail, office environment.
  • Lift up to 20 lb on a regular basis.
  • Work rotating schedules.
