About the role
Sound offers unpaid internships and practicum opportunities for Spring and Fall 2026, providing hands-on experience in mental health and substance use disorder services across multiple locations in the Greater Seattle area. Interns will work within our WISe department at various sites, including Bel-Red, Lake City Way, and Tukwila.
Sound serves a diverse community, from young children to older adults, through 17 outpatient sites, 4 residential facilities, supported housing locations, and over 250 schools. Our Reaching Recovery™ model ensures evidence-based, metric-driven care tailored to each client’s recovery journey, promoting engagement and hope.
Responsibilities
- Work with a culturally diverse, multi-problem clientele, primarily publicly funded (e.g., Medicaid) or low-income individuals.
- Gain experience in clinical documentation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and progress/discharge notes.
- Provide case management and counseling services as part of treatment.
- Learn about the network of collaborating agencies and systems.
- Participate in a team-based approach, both within Sound and with external agencies, based on client needs.
- Receive clinical supervision, including at least one hour of individual supervision per week and additional support as needed.
- Attend team meetings and clinical consultation groups.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s level school program.
- Minimum six-month commitment; nine months to one year preferred.
- Minimum 20–24 hours per week with a stable and reliable schedule.
- School vacations must be coordinated with your supervisor; all time off requires pre-approval.
