Internship, Field Quality Engineer, Energy Engineering (Fall 2026)

What You'll Do

• Monitor products field performance, identify trending issues.
• Prioritize based on severity, occurrence, and/or cost of each failure mode.
• Triage emerging trends and use engineering first principles to come up with failure hypothesis.
• Coincide with field service teams to expedite return of defective hardware for analysis.
• Perform deep-dive data analysis to support root cause investigations.
• Collaborate with engineering, factory quality and suppliers to drive containment and corrective action implementation into production and design.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and take preventive action.

What You'll Bring

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Prior applicable experience desired; preferably in Failure Analysis, Product Engineering, Quality or Service in consumer electronics or automotive.

Qualifications

• Broad engineering background with the ability to work with design engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside.
• Ability to use tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data.
• Programming Languages & Tools: SQL, Python, Jupyterhub, Minitab, Tableau, JMP or similar are a strong plus.

Pay

Expected Compensation $20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
