What To Expect Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start around January or February 2027 and continue through the entire Spring term (ending approximately May 2027 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships. International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. About The Team As a member of the firmware platforms team, you will be responsible for delivering high quality embedded code running on the processors at the heart of Tesla vehicles, energy systems, and robotics. You will solve some of the most challenging problems in the embedded software space and change the way the world produces electric vehicles and delivers energy. What You'll Do Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environmentSpecify, design, and implement new functionality for embedded subsystemsDesign the software architecture and firmware implementation through integration, test, and high-volume manufacturingHands-on hardware bring-up, new PCBA bring-up, system debugging and code optimizationMake performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements What You'll Bring Currently pursuing a Degree in Computer Science or related field with a graduation date between 2027-2028 Experience in embedded development in real-time controls, system software, RTOS, and device driver developmentProficiency in CFluent in software fundamentals including software design for maintainabilityExperience with embedded microprocessor toolchains and debuggersTest-driven development and familiarity with developer-driven automated testingAbility to collaborate and communicate complex technical conceptsUnderstanding of electronics principles and experience reading schematicsExperience with at least one assembly languageFamiliarity with static analysis, fuzzing, or other advanced testing/verification tools Benefits Compensation and Benefits As a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
