Internship
Description
The internship duration is subject to the City's discretion. Under direct supervision, interns perform administrative tasks to assist staff with their duties. Interns may be placed in departments such as City Manager's Office, Administrative Services, Community Development, Police, Recreation, General Services, or Transportation. Responsibilities may include assisting with program development, preparing documents, gathering information, providing administrative support, and performing related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Knowledge of: Principles for providing customer service, Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, Administrative and clerical procedures, Basic research and statistical research methods and techniques.
Skills: Effective verbal and written communication, Operate office equipment including computers, copying machines and phone systems, Collect, compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data, Learn software applications as assigned, Prioritize work and meet deadlines with many interruptions.
Ability: Understand and follow oral and written instructions, Use tact, patience, and courtesy when engaging with others, Plan, organize, prioritize, and schedule assignments.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to high school graduation and be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or another continued educational program.
License/Certification
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required. Please submit the required license, certificate, or registration with the State as evidence of professional or technical proficiency at the same time of filing the application.
