INTERNSHIP APPLICATION: FRIENDLY OAKS (LOUISA)

About the Role

We are seeking interns for two distinct programs within our Rural Services initiative. These roles offer hands-on experience in mental health support and psychosocial rehabilitation, providing valuable opportunities for students enrolled in bachelor's or master's level degree programs.

Responsibilities

Friendly Oaks Program (206 Elm Ave, Louisa, VA 23093)

• Facilitate groups with clients
• Assist with activities, including crafts and games
• Engage with clients to learn about different mental illnesses

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (83 Tanbark Plaza, Lovingston, VA 22949)

• Work face-to-face with adults with Serious Mental Illness
• Collaborate with a team of providers for Psychosocial Rehabilitation
• Engage with clients coping with acute mental health symptoms, intellectual and developmental needs, and substance use concerns
• Opportunities to work with multi-disciplinary providers at the Nelson Counseling Center

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's level degree program that supports mental health practicums or internships

Additional Expectations

• Concentrate on person-centered approaches
• Complete required training assignments, including Full Day Orientation, Confidentiality Training, Abuse and Incident Reporting, and Human Rights Training
• Provide necessary documentation, including TB screening/test, Disclosure Statement, Release Statement, Criminal Background Check, Department of Social Services Background, Emergency Contact Form, and EEO Form
