About the role
The International Student Advisor position manages a case load of international student immigration requests and benefits using knowledge of related Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations and independent judgement of their applicability; answers international student questions related to immigration, cultural adjustment, health insurance, finances and other relevant issues; contributes to planning and delivery of International Student Orientation and other international student programs on and off campus.

- Manages a case load of international student immigration requests and benefits using knowledge of related Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations and independent judgement of their applicability.
- Answers international student questions related to immigration, cultural adjustment, health insurance, finances and other relevant issues.
- Contributes to planning and delivery of International Student Orientation and other international student programs on and off campus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience working with international student populations in a higher educational environment; or previous experience living, working or studying abroad.
- US citizenship or Permanent Residency is required per Department of Homeland Security regulations.
- Ability to learn F-1 regulations and serve as a Designated School Official.
- An understanding of the needs and concerns of international students and scholars.
- Strong intercultural communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with event planning and/or student programming in a higher educational environment.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, International Education or related field.
- One year of experience as an international student advisor and serving as a Designated School Official.
Skills
