About the role
The International Services Advisor is responsible for advising international students on matters related to their status as international students. The International Services Advisor works with international students to aid them in maintaining lawful immigration status by advising on immigration regulations, policies, and procedures. Additionally, this position assists students by serving as a Designated School Official (DSO).
Responsibilities
- Advise international students on matters relating to their specific immigration regulations and visa statuses.
- Engage in frequent contact with international students until graduation to assist students with institutional compliance and federal regulations as related to international students.
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
- Process international student requests, including I-20s.
- Manage the academic progress of international students and report this information, through a web portal, to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on a regular basis.
- Advise students on immigration status-related information.
- Oversee the maintenance of international student files to ensure accuracy in Sunapsis and SEVIS.
- Organize informational sessions for international students and academic advisors.
- Stay up-to-date on government updates for international students.
- Assist with admission processes when and if needed.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with international student relations.
