Responsibilities
- Cook up international shipments of metal products, raw materials, and industrial equipment via ocean, air, and ground transportation.
- Collaborate closely with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely shipment execution and customs clearance.
- Inspect shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Track shipments with carriers from origin to destination and update internal stakeholders on shipment statuses.
- Assist in reviewing product descriptions and tariff classifications (HTS codes) to ensure accurate customs documentation.
- Support basic trade compliance activities and recordkeeping.
- Handle import entries and resolve customs clearance issues with brokers when necessary.
- Review freight invoices and contribute to transportation cost tracking and reporting.
- Coordinate with internal departments like purchasing, production planning, warehouse operations, and finance to ensure accurate shipment information.
- Maintain organized shipment files and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics efficiency, cost control, and supply chain optimization.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Two to four years of experience in logistics management.
- A basic understanding of international trade processes and shipping documentation.
- Familiarity with import/export procedures and customs documentation is a plus.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and systems to track shipments, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
