Job Responsibilities
Provides lactation management services to clients of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program in the Lowcountry area region. Includes education, outreach, and provides Level three (3) high risk lactation services as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
- Education, counseling, and follow-up to high risk Level 3 WIC participants referred by the Breastfeeding Coordinator.
- May provide Level 2 services as needed.
- Keep accurate records of all contacts made with WIC mothers.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
- Schedules, provides, and documents group breastfeeding education and support.
- Uses approved visual aides and educational materials.
- Assists with training new staff.
- Assists with in-services for staff and the community.
- Attends staff meetings, submit South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS), Personnel Cost Accounting System (PCAS), travel, and other monthly reports in a timely manner.
Requirements
A high school diploma and relevant human services or social services experience. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Certification.
Qualifications
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications, subject to approval by the SCDPH Chief Human Resources Officer, or their delegate.
