Internal SME
Position Summary
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Internal SME collaborates with line leads, supervisors, and stakeholders to offer guidance, solve complex problems related to equipment setup and adjustments, make informed decisions regarding equipment adjustments, and ensure the accuracy and quality of work within their area of expertise. The Internal SME oversees daily changeover operations across all lines, including centerline parameters, changeover times, and procedures, and guides line leads on improving changeover and cleaning times.
Position Responsibilities
- Cleaning and Inspection Routines: Own and coach the execution of cleaning and inspection routines and deep cleans schedules to ensure machines operate at peak performance. Ensure routines stay current and are improved as necessary.
- Centerline Program: Champion the centerline program by developing checklists, collecting optimal machine settings, and coaching operators on the proper execution of the program. Coach operators on on-time checks against centerline checklists, filling out Centerline Change Forms when adjustments are needed, and participating in problem-solving activities to return to centerline.
- Changeovers: Own the SMED checklists for changeovers, coach line leaders and operators on proper changeover types and processes, monitor adherence to standard times, and participate in problem-solving when deviations occur.
- Waste Minimization Program: Assist in gathering waste data, coach operations on testing, weighing, and data input activities related to waste, and participate in problem-solving activities related to waste reduction.
- Short Interval Controls: Coach line leads and supervisors on the use of visual boards and monitoring of short interval controls to drive desired behaviors and urgency on the lines. Fill out visual boards, execute escalation processes, and own the design of visual boards. Audit line leads' work standards and provide recommendations for service level improvements.
- Support Teams: Provide job-specific training and documentation, delegate tasks to leads and operators regarding changeovers, cleaning, and safety procedures, and support teams as needed.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Four (4) years of production, equipment operation experience required.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment required.
- Experience in a manufacturing and/or Food Safety environment preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively.
Pay and Benefits
The pay for this role in the state of California ranges from $23.90 to $31.10 per hour and is based on position responsibilities and geographic location.
