INTERNAL POSTING - Senior Marine Scientist
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join our Estuarine Finfish Research team to contribute to the leadership of our Inshore Fisheries, Mariculture, and Population Genetic teams and provide oversight on the Section’s research projects on marine and freshwater fishes. Specific duties will include field and laboratory research, data collection and analysis, collection and data management, preparation of reports and presentations, authoring technical manuscripts, coordination and supervision of team personnel, proposal preparation, and budget management. Most projects will include work on multi-disciplinary teams.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- A Ph.D. in a field related to job duties and ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Writing skills, as evidenced by at least one (1) peer-reviewed publication.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Ph.D. degree in biology, marine science, or genetics.
- Demonstrated abilities to conduct marine research including experimental design, data collection and analyses, and report preparation.
- Experience with Inshore Fisheries, Marine Aquaculture and Stock Enhancement, and Population Genetics; successful grant funding record preferred.
- Knowledge of marine and/or freshwater fishes of the southeastern US and the capability to work independently.
- Strong communication, quantitative, organizational, computer, writing and inter-personal skills.
