Job Responsibilities
- Aiding in the planning and evaluation of violation prevention programs and patrols.
- Reviewing unit activity and complaints to identify high violation areas and implementing strategies accordingly.
- Assigning officers to patrol high activity areas and providing assistance as needed.
- Supervising assignments and reporting results to supervisors.
- Patrolling assigned unit using various modes of transportation (vehicle, boat, ATV, aircraft, and on foot) to enforce laws related to game, fish, boating, littering, and other offenses.
- Preparing and presenting evidence for prosecution of cases when necessary.
- Issuing summonses, warnings, or making arrests as required, and assisting unit officers in handling cases.
- Assisting with public relations presentations within the unit as requested.
- Supervising Conservation Officers, Privates First Class, Lance Corporals, Sergeants, and Deputy Law Enforcement Officers within the assigned unit.
- Completing all administrative duties as assigned.
- Overseeing the FTO (Field Training Officer) program within the unit, reviewing required Body-Worn Camera (BWC) videos, receiving and disseminating orders from Region Headquarters, and providing oversight at critical incidents.
- Inspecting issued equipment.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- One hundred twenty (120) cumulative credit hours or equivalent credit and four (4) years of experience as a DNR Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to plan, organize, direct, and review the work of subordinates.
- Significant knowledge of firearms, automotive, boating, communications, and other law enforcement equipment.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
- Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to game, fish, boating, littering, and commercial fisheries.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Department's methods, procedures, policies, and directives.
