Job Responsibilities

  • Establishes, validates, and reviews employer liability status.
  • Performs account review for assigned work queue.
  • Identifies discrepancies, non-compliance, and implements account updates.
  • Reviews and processes submitted documents, including status reports and quarterly filings.
  • Performs data entry and account maintenance of quarterly filings, wage amendments, and benefit work items.
  • Provides employer technical assistance and encourages online filing.
  • Maintains compliance with agency customer service etiquette and standard operating procedures.

Job Description

This position reports to the Employer Tax Services (ETS) Department of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division in one of the five hubs across South Carolina. The ETS Specialist is responsible for ensuring employer compliance with state statutes and reporting requirements.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree; OR a high school diploma with at least one year of experience in auditing, analysis, compliance or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of laws and government regulations related to tax and agency policy and procedures and the ability to evaluate information to determine compliance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with individuals inside and outside of the organization, representing Employer Tax Services to customers.
  • Position may require working evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and experience in auditing, analysis, compliance, or a similar field.
