Principles
- Provide visionary leadership for Internal Medicine within the IllinoisCOM.
- Lead curriculum development and assessment for the Internal Medicine clinical rotations.
- Assist curriculum development and assessment in preclinical courses as needed.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department.
- Maintain partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training and research opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success
- Oversee the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary Internal Medicine curriculum.
- Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based and small-group learning.
- Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in clinical and academic settings.
- Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate Internal Medicine content across the curriculum.
Service
- Represent the College in professional organizations and events.
- Aid in student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
- Participate in college and University committees.
- Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).
- Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
- Engage in community outreach and service-learning programs.
Research & Scholarly Activity
- Promote a culture of research and scholarship.
- Support faculty and student research.
- Seek external funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives.
- Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for research activities.
Qualifications
- DO or MD degree with board certification in related specialty.
- At least five (5) years of experience in medical education, residency training, or faculty leadership.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to collaborative, interprofessional education and the integration of osteopathic principles in training.
- At least five (5) years of clinical practice experience.
