About the role

Ambulatory Faculty Physicians (AFP) teach HonorHealth Internal Medicine residents in the practice of ambulatory internal medicine. The AFP provides medical care for patients in an ambulatory setting, actively participates in HonorHealth programs to bring high-value healthcare to patients, and may assist in coordinating curriculum areas or performing administrative duties for the residency and hospital. The AFP serves as a role model for resident physicians, develops educational programs, and engages in scholarly activities at state, regional, or national levels.

Responsibilities

• Participates as an attending physician caring for patients at HonorHealth or HonorHealth Medical Group.
• Supervises resident care for patients at HonorHealth or HonorHealth Medical Group.
• Participates in scholarly activity and faculty development educational programs.
• Participates in residency, hospital, and community-related committees as assigned.
• Participates in weekly teaching of students, residents, and faculty at conferences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. – Required.
• Strong clinical and teaching skills.
• Successful completion of a residency in Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics – Required.
• Prior experience as a faculty member in a post-graduate residency training program OR completion of a 1-year general internal medicine fellowship or post-residency Chief Medical Resident position in an Internal Medicine residency program – Preferred.
• Eligible for Arizona State License.
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine, ABIM – Required.
