About the role
Fantastic opportunity for a General Internal Medicine specialist to join the team at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail. The position offers practice in a supportive community setting with abundant lifestyle opportunities. The Internal Medicine group consists of 6 local internists providing 24/7 IM call coverage (separate from ICU), cardiac risk stratification with ESTs and MIBIs, urgent IM access via the Rapid Access IM Clinic located in the hospital, and separate outpatient office work. Teaching obligations are expected, with association to UBC and involvement of ICC medical students, family practice residents, and visiting UBC IM Fellows. Critical care services are covered separately and not part of this position.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 internal medicine call coverage (inpatient consults at KBRH and phone support for surrounding communities)
- Perform cardiac risk stratification using ESTs and MIBIs
- Operate the Rapid Access IM Clinic within the hospital for urgent internal medicine access
- Conduct outpatient office work in addition to inpatient duties
- Engage in teaching responsibilities for medical students, residents, and fellows
- Serve as a consulting service with minimal MRP duties
Schedule
On-call duties are generally daytime hours with an approximate frequency of 1:4 to 1:5. The role includes inpatient consults at KBRH and phone support for surrounding communities.
Compensation
Estimated remuneration: $300,000 – $400,000, plus MOCAP level 1 and cardio-diagnostics.
