About the Role
The Internal Logistics Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of internal logistics and materials management operations within a manufacturing environment. This includes material and parts planning, inventory control, warehousing, receiving, internal material flow, logistics engineering, transportation, and distribution activities. The role ensures materials are available to support production while optimizing inventory levels, controlling costs, and driving operational excellence. This position will play a key role in advancing warehouse and inventory management capabilities, including supporting the organization's future transition to SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and driving the adoption of best-in-class warehouse management processes and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead material and parts planning, releases, warehousing, inventory management, goods-in processes, and distribution operations.
- Manage and optimize the flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility to support production and customer requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective inventory control systems that balance material availability with inventory investment.
- Oversee receiving, storage, locating, dispatching, transportation, and distribution activities while driving operational efficiency and cost control.
- Analyze contractual commitments, customer specifications, engineering changes, and operational requirements to develop and execute logistics strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Coordinate activities among suppliers, subcontractors, production teams, purchasing, engineering, and field service personnel to ensure delivery of business commitments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, and cost performance.
- Utilize operational data and business analytics to identify improvement opportunities and support data-driven decision-making.
- Lead, coach, and develop logistics and warehouse personnel while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to support warehouse management system enhancements and future SAP EWM implementation efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field plus 3 or more years of logistics engineering and/or logistics management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associates degree plus 6 or more years of logistics engineering and/or logistics management experience OR high school diploma/GED plus 9 or more years of logistics engineering and/or logistics management experience will be considered.
- Experience managing inventory control, material planning, warehousing, and internal logistics operations.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and warehouse process design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
- Business Process Design and Business Analytics experience.
- Experience with Click or other Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Knowledge of or experience supporting SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) implementations, upgrades, or warehouse transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record of driving operational improvements and delivering measurable business results.
Pay
The annual salary for this role is USD $86,625.00 - $132,825.00 plus any applicable bonus. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
