About the role
This position is open only to current employees of JJ Food Service Ltd. You will support the Credit Control Team in Enfield, reporting to the Credit Control Manager and Credit Control Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Support credit activities through daily administration of debt recovery procedures.
- Ensure debts are paid in a timely manner by chasing overdue balances via telephone, email, and letter in accordance with agreed terms.
- Receipt invoices and payments from customers, allocating them to accounts as required.
- Undertake account reconciliations.
- Identify changes in payment patterns and report immediately.
- Handle disputed bills and negotiate to bring payment within agreed terms.
- Input accurate credit amounts for customers and process credit/debit card payments.
- Provide accurate advice on billing queries and ensure processing deadlines are met.
- Maintain up-to-date information on all customer interactions in the task history database.
- Uphold confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
- Provide cover for other accounting functions as requested.
- Ensure telephone, email, and fax queries are handled to a high professional standard.
- Maintain documentation to meet company and legislative requirements, contributing to continuous improvement of the administrative function.
- Improve relations with customers to facilitate efficient communications, product development, and issue management.
- Adhere to company policies on internal/external customer care and equal opportunity.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and business requirements.
- Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as reasonably expected to achieve departmental and company goals.
Requirements
- 4 GCSEs (A-C) including English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
- Applicable job-based certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Manual handling (lifting or moving products/equipment) with provided training for safe execution.
- Occasional pushing/pulling of trolleys to carry items.
- Training provided for use of appropriate equipment depending on the load.
Skills
- High level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and relevant business systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to identify, assess, and escalate potential risks appropriately.
- Professional and diplomatic handling of difficult conversations.
Additional Notes
Flexibility is essential, including the willingness to transfer to alternative groups or duties within the business as needed. During holiday periods or peak workloads, you may be required to take on duties normally performed by colleagues to ensure operational efficiency.
